New students who wish to reside at KK9 UM (Kolej Kediaman Tun Syed Zahiruddin) must apply through the official Universiti Malaya student portal. Residential college placement is managed by the Student Affairs Department (HEP UM) and is subject to availability and eligibility criteria.

All new undergraduate students admitted to Universiti Malaya are encouraged to apply for residential college accommodation as early as possible. Priority placement is typically given to first-year students and those from outside the Klang Valley. International students are also eligible to apply.

Upon receiving a placement offer, students must complete the online check-in form and submit a Letter of Undertaking (LOU) confirming they agree to abide by the college's rules and regulations. All residents are expected to respect the rights of fellow students and maintain the cleanliness and safety of the college environment.
